About the place
The Cazacu slope lies to the right of Sorica as you face the mountain, and its base is about 250 metres from the gondola station. The long run descends from about 1,530 to 1,000 metres over roughly 2 km, a drop of 530 metres with one steeper section. You reach the top by gondola.
At the base are Cazacu Variantă, a short slope with snowmaking served by a T-bar, and a baby-ski slope for learners. The town's tourist information centre lists a ski school here with instructors certified by the Romanian Ski and Biathlon Federation. Around Cazacu there are also about 10 km of cross-country trails and a snowboard run.
Good to know
- Points bought for the Cazacu T-bar also work on the baby-ski lift.
- Cazacu Variantă is short but steeper than the baby-ski slope; beginners should move on to it after a few hours of practice.
- The slopes open only when there is snow or it is cold enough for the snow cannons; in 2025 the beginners' slopes opened on Christmas Day.
