About the place
The lower station is on Sorica Street at the foot of the slopes, about 3 km by road from the town hall. The gondola, opened at the end of 2007, has 8-seat cabins and climbs 1,853 metres, from 972 to 1,539 metres above sea level, in about 5 minutes. On the way up and at the top you look across to the Bucegi Mountains.
The Sorica slope runs 2,100 metres, from about 1,530 down to 978 metres, a drop of 561 metres. It is of intermediate difficulty, FIS-approved, has snowmaking and 700 metres lit for evening skiing. Its lower part is served by the Sorica chairlift and a beginners' conveyor belt. In summer the gondola carries walkers and cyclists, and there is a Bike Pass for riders.
