About the place
The waterfall drops about 15 m on the Urlătoarea stream on the eastern side of the Bucegi, and a little higher up there are smaller falls on Urlătoarea Mare and Urlătoarea Mică. The main trail starts in Bușteni near the cable car and is marked with a red dot. It is about 3.6 km long and takes about an hour and a quarter.
A second path, marked with a blue dot, climbs from Poiana Țapului and is about 2.8 km long, so you can go up one way and come down the other. Both trails run through forest.
Good to know
- Wear walking boots; there have been accidents on the wet rocks by the waterfall.
- The trail is open all year, but in winter the path can be covered in snow and ice.
- You can combine the walk with the cable car or Caraiman Monastery, both near the start of the trail.
